The Man in Black – Peter Moore
An illustrated talk by David Taylor
In December 1995, a series of brutal murders shocked the communities of North Wales. The man responsible was Peter Moore, a cinema owner who became known as The Man in Black.
This illustrated talk explores the extraordinary story of Moore’s crimes, his arrest and the investigation that led to his conviction for four murders in 1996.
Drawing on the experiences of Moore’s defence solicitor, Dylan Rhys Jones, and his book The Man in Black, David Taylor takes the audience behind the headlines to reveal the challenges of defending an accused murderer and the lasting personal impact of the case.
The story also has a personal connection, beginning with David’s childhood holidays in Abergele and Pensarn Beach, places that would later become central to this disturbing chapter of North Wales history.
Featuring historical photographs, illustrations and personal reflections, this is a compelling account of a notorious criminal case and the people whose lives it changed.
Duration: Approximately 45 minutes.
